International Monetary Systems Completes Acquisition of Illinois Trade Association and National Trade Association

New Berlin, Wis., October 03, 2006 -- International Monetary Systems, Ltd. (OTCBB:INLM), a worldwide leader in business-to-business barter services, announced today that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of National Trade Association and its subsidiary Illinois Trade Association (ITA).

This merger of the first and second-largest independent trade exchanges in North America creates a barter-industry giant. IMS will now be serving 15,000 clients and 22,000 cardholders who are located in 39 U.S. markets.

Don Mardak, CEO of IMS, commented: "This acquisition provides International Monetary Systems with a huge advantage over any potential competition. We will now dominate the Chicagoland marketplace, the largest barter market in America. Our metrics are reaching levels that have never before been achieved by an independent trade exchange. Among these are more than 1,200 restaurants and 600 advertising venues. We are servicing 400 hotels, resorts and other travel accommodations from coast to coast in the United States, plus numerous resorts in Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean. In addition, we now have air travel available on trade through two individual airlines and several well-known charter-flight providers."

As a result of this acquisition, International Monetary Systems now has a corporate barter division (National Trade Association) with 600 clients on the roster, including several well-known publishers, hotel chains, manufacturers and distributors.
