Craignair Inn & Restaurant by the Sea

Imagine watching a beautiful ocean-side sunset from a porch, surrounded by flower gardens on a granite ledge rising from the sea….

You can have this view from the Cragnair Inn and Restaurant in Spruce Head Maine.

The Cragnair Inn was originally constructed in 1928 to home quarry workers. It was converted to an Inn in 1947 and has maintained its historical charm. Lauren and Greg Soutiea bought the Cragnair in December 2018, after moving from Boston. They joined IMS in 2019 and many IMS members have enjoyed this beautiful Inn.

While enjoying the beautiful Maine coast, IMS guests can sleep easy knowing that the Cragnair Inn strives towards sustainability, so future generations can enjoy its beautiful beaches. Some of their notable sustainability practices include having an EV (electric vehicle) Charging Station available for guests and patrons, using eco-friendly cleaning products, using 100% cotton sheets, towels, and quilts, providing William Roam products for guest amenities that don’t use animal by-products and don’t use animals for tests. Additional Green lodging practices in place at the Craignair Inn & Restaurant by the Sea are:

  • Individually controlled heat zones in all of our guest rooms
  • Use of elegant amenities in a dispenser system for showers that eliminates the need for hundreds of small bottles each year and partially used products
  • Purchase and use of energy efficient appliances
  • Donation of old linens and towels for re-use at the local animal shelter
  • Old bathrobes and unclaimed guest clothing are donated to local charities
  • Recycling centers in guestrooms and common areas
  • Housekeepers are trained to remove recyclable goods from rooms
  • Sharing of their mission to reduce and how guests can participate by re-using towels

Besides experiencing the wonderful green practices during their stay, guests can enjoy wonderful food in the rustic inn with an incredible ocean view. Because of their wonderful service and beautiful accommodations, it won a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence.

The Craignair’s Innkeepers, Lauren and Greg Soutiea can’t wait to meet you and learn more about what brings you to the Craignair Inn during your stay. They heartily carry the honor of the Craignair tradition of spectacular food, unmatched views and comfortable rooms.
