From the heart of Sonoma County's Russian River Valley Appellation, this case of wine impressed the judges at the OC Fair Commercial Wine Competition, bringing home a gold medal! This case of 12 bottles features this late ripening, dark-skinned grape that was originally adapted to the red, mineral-rich soils of Istria County, Croatia. In fact, Teran wine is first mentioned in the late 14th century in high-level meetings with ambassadors and emissaries within the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Ironically, the viticulture of this once high-flying wine has been maintained by the humble, hardworking Istrians. This version of Teran exhibits dark-red hues and purple where it clings to the glass. Notes of white pepper and herb greet the nose. Forest berries and a balance between gentle tannins and slight acidity greet the mid-palate. The wine finishes with delicate chocolate and black licorice. Pair with spicy meat and game, stuffed paprika, prosciutto, and aged cheese. No ship states include: AL, AK, DE, KY, MA, MS, MT, NH, OK, and UT
