Yvonne Hollingworth, along with her husband Mark, are Canadian and international artists whose work spans mixed media, painting and wearable art. Their work features miniature painted, fired and enameled elements mounted onto antique and vintage jewelry.
Many years ago, Yvonne and Mark inherited a warehouse filled with thousands of pieces of antique and vintage jewelry of all kinds.....necklaces, earrings, bracelets, pins, rings, etc. Using this stroke of good luck, they went to work. They took different parts from various pieces of the antique/vintage jewelry and used them to recreate new pieces that were unique and one-of-a-kind. They also added their own elements like faces showing emotions and other pieces of original art.
Measurements: 1 1/2 W X 4" H (if worn with face facing up)
This pin/brooch from the 1990's was created using a latex lizard as the base and micro/seed beads to cover the body. A hand painted lady's head was attached to the body which makes the piece look quite unusual. You'll surely get noticed when wearing it!
Although many of Yvonne's and Mark's pins/brooches can be worn as necklaces, I would not recommend that with this one because it does not lay right and looks awkward. It is much better appreciated as a pin/brooch.
